Selina Scott opens Welland Place
Quality Lifestyle for the Retired
Leicestershire’s first full service luxury retirement village, Welland Place in Market Harborough, was officially opened on March 23rd by renowned writer and broadcaster, Selina Scott, in a launch event to mark the occasion.
The official opening of the scheme, a development of 103 apartments by BMB Property Investments Ltd, marks an important milestone for retirement housing in the area, which until now, has not incorporated the premium lifestyle services, facilities and 24 hour emergency care offered at Welland Place.
On viewing the development, Selina was suitably impressed, she said: “We all worry about where we’re going to end our later years, but this development feels like a hotel with wonderful facilities and services, and the access to care means it is ideal for a senior lifestyle. Whilst the concept is fairly new to the UK, retirement villages like this have been available for years in the US, Australia and New Zealand so it’s great that we’re finally catching on over here – I hope we see more of this type of scheme throughout the UK. It adds verve to older people’s expectations of the future.”
Welland Place incorporates 103 studio, one and two bedroom apartments, all built to the highest quality and featuring fully fitted kitchens and bathrooms / wet rooms. Secure, underground car parking is also available.
A number of local dignitaries were also in attendance at the event, including: Sue Smith, Chief Executive of Harborough District Council; Councillor Jan Tooley, Chairman of Harborough District Council; John Townsend, Deputy President of the Chamber of Commerce, and Jean Dadge, Chairman of Market Harborough U3A, all of whom were keen to show their support.
After the scheme was officially opened, guests were treated to a tour of the show apartments and onsite communal facilities, which include a restaurant, lounge, bar, TV/cinema room, library, swimming pool, spa and gymnasium for leisure or rehabilitation, health and well being clinic and hairdresser/beauty therapy room.
The development enjoys landscaped, communal gardens running down to the adjacent river and new Millennium Mile walkway extension which leads to the picturesque town centre, offering a range of high quality shops, restaurants, bars and leisure facilities.
Prices at Welland Place start from £139,500. For further information or to register your interest, please call selling agent, Andrew Granger & Co on Tel: 01858 431 315 or visit www.wellandplace.co.uk
