Fond Farewell To The Vulcan
Hundreds gathered to say a farewell to the historic Vulcan Bomber on the afternoon of Sunday October 11th. The airfield hosted a day of displays and demonstrations and the star of the show was of course the Vulcan.
The iconic cold war plane performed a flypast over Bruntingthorpe …where enthusiasts spent years restoring it…
Other people locally caught a glimpse of it as it made its way to the airfield..
The age of the 55-year-old Vulcan's airframe and engines means it can no longer be licenced to fly after this flying season.
The bomber was restored and returned to flight in 2007 at a cost of more than £7 million in public donations and lottery money.
